I would want to go out on my terms not theirs. If I knew I was going to be D’fd I would write a D’a letter to beat them to the punch. My wife is very supportive of me and my decision even though she would prefer I come back to the borg. I have very little to loose either way. My mom and sister live 20 hours away via car and know I left a yr ago. They still talk to me. If they found out I was D’fd or D’a I think they would talk to me but in a more limited way. My MIL lives down the street from me and watches our kids while we work. She, I believe, would treat me the same way as she always has. She’s a great MIL and I couldn’t have picked a better family to be apart of. I think my own mom would shun me long before the MIL. My FIL has been inactive for 15+ years and I think that helps with her being cool about the situation. I only have one friend that speaks to me from the hall and if I was D’fd or D’a he would probably not speak to me.
I told my wife that I want to raise our kids in as balanced a way that we can. I told her that they will be celebrating the holidays as long as they wanted to with me. My son may spill the beans (to the local BOE or cong) abt this as he is very excited to celebrate Halloween this year. It doesn’t matter to me if he does. In my opinion they only have as much “authority” over me as I give them. I no longer believe in their god or Christ as our savior. I have ended that chapter of my life and am moving on as best I can.
In fact an elder from the hall left me a voice mail last night saying “ I just wanted to touch base with you and talk about a couple things.” I haven’t called him back and don’t plan to. I told my wife that he called. I said to her… “the circuit overseer must be coming soon?” and she said “yes he is here now. Why do you ask?” I told her he called and probably did so out of obligation. She just said "oh".This is the first time in about 9 months that they tried to contact me.

has anyone stayed in a Yosemite cabin this year?
by Glander inapparently the rodents who get into the cabins and leave feces, fleas, etc.
are infected with the hanta virus.
they fear that as many as ten thousand people may have been exposed to this deadly germ which takes 6 weeks to incubate after exposure.

Luckily its not contagious from human to human. We shouldnt have to worry about an epidemic

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

Glander- Sorry to hear that. being connected in any way to someone's death is tough. especially a suicide

I have known 3. One was like a father to me as mine was not around. I was 13 at the time. Then another was a friend I grew up with but lost contact with when I moved congregations. That one was when I was 18. And the most recent was a woman whos husband was recently DF’d for cheating on her. She decided to forgive him but the embarrassment of his decision led her to end it. This was about 3 years ago. I had heard she was getting more and more depressed waiting for him to be reinstated.

Let's Discuss Ray Franz's Books
by Recovery ini have been repeatedly pleaded with to read the books of ray franz in my short stay on this board.
apparently these are all the all-powerful, wt crushing arguments, that lead so many to leave jw's and become ruthless opposers of god's people.
we can discuss any claims/statements/scriptural arguments presented in either of his books, as long as it somehow proves jehovah's witnesses are not god's people.

Let's discuss ray franz's books. How do you discuss a topic you clearly know nothing about? Read COC and then you can discuss. Its, as others have pointed out, a story of his time in bethel. Not the all-powerful, WT crushing arguments, that lead so many to leave JW's and become ruthless opposers of God's people as you have put it. I am only about 100 pages in – thank you Deist for letting me borrow it, I will get it back to you as soon as I finish- and it is not what you clearly think it is. It discusses, among other things, the organizations corporations practices ray saw first hand. I look forward to finishing it and I recommend you read it too.
Try and be a little more intelligent when starting a topic. You will find a very small group who post here to be complete assholes, but the majority are here to assist you on breaking free or at the very least letting you know their experiences. Try not to be among the condescending assholes.

You Can't Live Forever in Paradise on Earth
by smmcroberts inthis will come as no shock to most of us.
but i wanted to detail the reasons in simple language for our witness friends in my latest blog: you can't live forever in paradise on earth.
sorry if it bursts anyone's bubble, but those who are loyal to the truth surely won't mind following where it leads.
